The Problem We Are Solving
Healthcare gaps in remote Africa are not only about lack of hospitals, but they are also about broken systems. Across many rural and underserved African communities:
- Patients with treatable conditions are never identified early
- Outreach teams rely on paper records that get lost or damaged
- There is no digital follow-up after patient referrals
- Treatment abandonment is common due to poor tracking and coordination
- Medical history is fragmented or completely absent
As a result, preventable and treatable conditions such as cervical cancer, obstetric fistula, clubfoot, and cataracts continue to cause avoidable suffering and death. Sekmediq Ecosystem was created to address these systemic gaps.
What Is the Sekmediq Ecosystem?
The Sekmediq Ecosystem is a digital health initiative developed under ORAID Foundation to improve healthcare delivery, data continuity, and patient outcomes in underserved communities. It consists of two complementary digital products:
Sekmediq HMS (Hospital Management System)
Strengthening clinical decision-making through structured medical data. Sekmediq HMS is a hospital management system designed to:
- Digitally store patient medical records and histories
- Improve continuity of care across visits
- Support data-driven clinical decisions
- Reduce reliance on fragmented paper records
- Enable long-term tracking of patient outcomes
The HMS component focuses on facility-based care, ensuring that once patients reach treatment centers, their data supports better diagnosis and follow-up.
Sekmediq Connect (Digital Outreach & Patient Tracking)
Bridging the gap between remote communities and treatment center. Sekmediq Connect is a digital outreach system built for mobile health teams operating in remote areas. It enables teams to:
- Identify patients with treatable medical conditions
- Digitally register and track patient data in the field
- Coordinate referrals to partner treatment centers
- Monitor treatment progress and follow-up
- Reduce patient loss after referral
Sekmediq Connect is designed for low-resource and low-connectivity environments, making it suitable for rural and hard-to-reach regions.
